CARRIAGE TAX
Under the provisions of the “Carriage Duties Act”, every person keeping a Carriage must pay the Duty on the same to the Colonial Treasury on the 15th October in each year, or be liable to a penalty not exceeding (£10) Ten Pounds.
Schedule of Duties
For a Carriage on 4 wheels drawn by one horse or mule |
£2 |
For a carriage on 2 wheels drawn by one or more horses or mules |
£2 |
For a carriage on 4 wheels drawn by more than one horse or mule |
£4 |
For any number of Carriages owned by one person |
£6 |
Carriages for Hire For every Licence to keep one such Carriage |
£2 |
For every Licence to keep two or more Carriages |
£4 |
Persons requiring Licences must apply to the Colonial Treasury, and in their application state whether their Carriages have two or four wheels, and whether drawn by one or two horses.
