Cypress Street Cemetery
The Cypress Street Burial ground lay neglected for many years
until the Launceston City Council reclaimed the ground for a park.
The
park was made available to the Broadland House School for recreational
use
in
1953. An estimated 30,000 people were buried there, including 4 First
Fleeters: Olivia (Gascoigne) Lucas, William Blackhall, Thomas Sparks
and Elizabeth (Haywood) Lowe. |
